This is actually happening
It’s a new school year and for many in our community, the final year of High School.
Senior year is surreal. It's a time of transition from the high school journey to the beginning of adulthood. There’s excitement, uncertainty, nostalgia. It’s both thrilling and intimidating, and not just for the students!
Parents, caregivers, grandparents and families come to know bittersweet pride and reflection as they watch their children prepare to step into their independent lives.
If every school year is a whirlwind of “firsts” and “lasts” — events, family traditions, conversations and experiences — senior year is on steroids.
Which is why we’re here for both parents and students!
What to expect from Bridges this year: Personalized support with college and vocational school applications, financial aid, scholarships and more.
We’re here for would-be students of any age and from all backgrounds.
Both Sue Martin-Trujillo and I work directly with our Bridges clients (and their families!) to navigate resources and barriers to push students on through to the benefits of a degree or vocational certificate.
To make the most of this opportunity, here are ways students and their families can support us:
Encourage regular communication with our counselors
Participate in our workshops and events
Spread the word about Bridges to other friends and families
Donate to our program, even just a monthly donation of $10 makes an impact
Support Bridges (at no cost to you!) by linking us to your shopping at Smith's.
Last year Bridges helped launch 140 high school seniors, non-traditional students and adult learners towards a post-secondary education. That was a record for us and we expect to set a new record this school year.
If you have any questions, let me know. I’m a Bridges alumni myself!
Sincerely,
Executive Director
