Mahjong Night!

Bridges Project for Education Mahjong Fundraiser
October 12, 2023 | 4-6:30 p.m.

Bridges Project for Education announces, “The Bridges Project Mahjong Event,” a fundraising event to take place in the Encore Gallery at Taos Center for the Arts (TCA) on Thursday, October 12, from 4 - 6:30pm.

“Our aim is to raise $10,000 to support our mission to expand access to postsecondary education for students of all ages in Taos County,” said Lisa Cancro, a board member for Bridges and avid Mahjong player.

The event will benefit the free counseling services provided by Bridges Project for Education, a non-profit that has helped over 3,200 students and their families access college and vocational school since 1997.

The event is supported by Taos County Association of REALTORS who have pledged to match funds raised by this event up to $5000, as well as Brett House Catering, Ken Price, Pinon Investments of Taos, Quail Ridge Taos, Salazar Road Veterinary, Taos Properties and Taos Ski Valley.

Mahjong is a popular tile-based strategy game that originated in China. The game is typically played by four players, although there are variations that can accommodate different numbers of players. The game is often compared to card games like rummy or poker because it involves skill, strategy, and a degree of luck.

Participants will play at least four games. Everyone will have an opportunity to win prizes from local artists and businesses as well as a "Cheeky Millennial Pink Tile Set” from The Mahjong Line!

Table sponsorships and reservations to the event are available now. Each table sponsorship is $500. Individual tickets to the event are $25 which includes refreshments and food by Brett House Catering “and everything you need to participate in the Mahjong fun at the TCA!”

Don’t know how to play Mahjong? Lessons will be offered from 3 - 4p.m.
