Kristina Ortez de Jones, director of Taos Land Trust and a Bridges’ ally, shares her experience as a first-generation student and the benefit she sees in Bridges’ services in a Bridges’ Spotlight on her.
The fact that Bridges exists is so amazing.” Its value extends beyond just opening doors to college. For first generation students, in particular, Bridges Project offers help in “thinking through [and] expressing your experience growing up in a place like Taos—how you navigate that, and how you prepare yourself for the next phase. I didn’t have that,” Kristina says. “I think it’s so valuable.”
